Dishes Can Wait

Dishes can wait. They’re real patient. They won’t nag you. They won’t even subtly hint. They’ll just sit there. Which is the one thing that is bothersome about dirty dishes . . . they sit there in plain sight, all dirty and unfortunate looking. But if you can get past that fact, there really is nothing wrong with letting the dishes sit. Especially if there’s something more important for you to do. Sometimes a family member will need you. Sometimes you’ll need to get off your feet. Sometimes you just won’t feel like doing the dishes. Whatever the reason, don’t let a pile of dirty dishes give you enough guilt to put aside what you really need at the moment. Those dishes aren’t going anywhere. They’ll be there for you when you get back from whatever it is you need more.
