Chocolate Chip Cookies


You know how there are those things that you can always rely on? Like the sun coming up . . . a true friend . . . the Goo Goo Dolls . . . or a zit on prom night (unfortunately)? Well, you can now add this recipe to that list. Seriously, these cookies are so good. They come compliments of Angie. And you can trust any recipe that comes from her. The girl can cook. She specializes in sweets, but anything she touches is delicious. These cookies are so incredible. They always turn out. They are soft. Yet crunchy. The trick? Barely stir the flour into the dough and barely add enough flour so that the dough is soft and not sticky. Oh, and remember this day. Because it will be the day that your life changed forever . . . .


½ cup shortening

½ cup butter

¾ cup sugar

¾ cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 t vanilla

2 ¾ – 3 c flour

1 t soda

1 t salt

1 pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips


Cream shortening, butter, sugar, and brown sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in dry ingredients just until combined. Stir in chocolate chips. Scoop dough onto cookie sheet forming round balls. Bake at 350 for 9 minutes or until barely golden brown. Bake mini cookies 6-7 minutes.

    Oooo, I like any cookie recipe that combines butter with shortening. I think it must contribute to that soft-yet-crunchy phenomenon. Can’t wait to try these out!
