Fried Macaroni and Cheese


Now, if you want to up the comfort food factor a notch, fry your macaroni and cheese. I know, it doesn’t seem possible to have even more comfort in your comfort food, but trust me, frying will take your mac and cheese up to a whole ‘nother level. It’s amazing!! They start out as macaroni and cheese balls but end up more as triangles. No matter the shape, you’ll love them. Your family will love them. Your friends will love them. Everyone will insist you open a deli at once and serve your famous fried macaroni and cheese comfort food triangles. The world will thank you.


1 recipe of macaroni and cheese

1/2 c flour

2 eggs

4 slices of fresh bread, crumbed

2 T vegetable oil

2 T butter


Make macaroni and cheese. Chill for several hours or overnight. Using a 1-inch scoop, form macaroni and cheese balls. Roll in flour, beaten eggs, and then bread crumbs. Melt oil and butter in skillet over medium/low heat. Cook macaroni and cheese balls in butter/oil for a few minutes on each side until golden brown. Serve warm.

    Good heavens, I never would have thunk to do this. We’re already insane at my house about mac and cheese; why not take the insanity a little farther?
